What is SUD Life Simple Term Plan?

As the name suggests, SUD Life Simple Term Plan is a very straightforward term life insurance plan that provides much-needed economic support to your family in your absence. It pays a lumpsum amount to the beneficiary in case of the life insured’s untimely demise. There is no maturity benefit attached to this plan.

This annual premium payment plan is completely economical. The plan has 2 policy terms – 5 years and 10 years to choose from. The duration of the premium payment term is the same as the policy term. You can select the Sum assured as per your financial need. The premium is dependent on factors like age, sum assured and policy term.

SUD Life Simple Term Plan is the ideal plan for the primary breadwinner of the family. It ensures that your family gets the required financial aid when you are no longer around.

How Does SUD Life Simple Term Plan Work?

Once you buy the SUD Life Simple Term Plan, you must choose the following details:

  • Sum assured
  • Policy term
02.

The premium payment frequency of this plan is annual. The premium payment term aligns with the policy term. The premium amount is decided based on the life insured’s age, policy term and the sum assured.

In case of the life insured’s untimely death, a lump sum amount is paid as death benefit to the nominee. This amount will be the highest of:

  • 10 times the annual premium
  • 105% of premiums paid till death of life insured
  • The Sum assured as decided at the beginning of the plan.

Since this is a pure risk product, there is no maturity benefit to be given to the policyholder on surviving the entire policy term.

Yes, a grace period of 30 days is provided to pay any missed premium. The grace period begins from the due date of the first unpaid premium.

SUD Life Simple Term Plan can lapse if you do not pay the premium amount within the grace period. You can revive your lapsed policy within five years from the first unpaid premium due date, provided the policy term hasn’t ended. To do so, you must:

  • Submit a written request and proof of continued insurability.
  • Pay all outstanding premiums with 8.75% p.a. interest (compounded half-yearly for FY 24-25).
  • Fulfil required medical and financial checks (cost borne by you).

Approval is subject to underwriting, and once revived, all original benefits will be restored.

No, there is no surrender benefit available under this plan.

If the life insured dies by suicide within 12 months from the policy start date or revival date, the nominee will receive 80% of the total premiums paid until the date of death, provided the policy was active at the time.

Yes, if you feel this plan isn’t right for you, you can cancel it within 30 days of receiving the policy document. Upon cancellation, you will receive a refund of the premium paid, after deducting:

  • The risk premium for the coverage period.
  • Any medical examination costs incurred.
  • Stamp duty charges.

The policy ends in any of the following cases:

  • If premiums are not paid and the policy is not revived within the allowed period.
  • When the policy term reaches its end.
  • Upon the life insured’s death, after the death benefit is paid.
  • If cancelled during the free-look period, with a refund as per policy terms.
